However, community leaders claim their members were innocent and had no involvement in the attacks, describing the arrests as "ill-informed".  The Tafo District Court and Atasamanso Circuit Court granted bail to 240 men on November 27, 2025, after they spent two weeks in remand. Kwabena Fosu, a community leader, criticized the security agencies for failing to conduct due diligence before the mass arrest.  "These are innocent men, who had done nothing but were arrested and disgraced," he said.  "They were taken away from their families, with ...

Springfield Oil Block Acquisition: ACEP Alleges Conspiracy to Deprive Ghana of $70

Image
A potential scandal is brewing in Ghana's energy sector, with the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) accusing state agencies of deliberately misleading the public to justify a massive $700 million payout for the Springfield Oil block. According to ACEP's Executive Director, Benjamin Boakye, officials from GNPC and Explorco deliberately withheld crucial 2024 appraisal data, opting instead to use discredited 2020 data to inflate the value of the WCTP-2 block. ACEP in a Facebook post on Monday called for immediate scrutiny of the deal to save Ghana from a massive financial loss  "This is a clear case of financial mismanagement and a breach of public trust," Benjamin Boakye stated. The move to acquire the WTCP-2    block by Government has raised concerns of a conspiracy to cause significant financial loss to the state, with ACEP pointing out that the same dataset was used in a previous arbitration case that Ghana lost. Thus, Mr. Boakye is calling for immediate acco...
