Ministry Of Land And Natural Resources Pledges to Safeguard Wildlife Protected Areas, Wildlife with Enhanced Legislation

  The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR) has emphasized its commitment to safeguarding protected areas and wildlife in the country with enhanced laws.  As part of efforts, the Ministry has engaged stakeholders on a draft Legislative Instrument designed to operationalize the Wildlife Resources Management Act, 2023 (Act 1115). Held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the consultative workshop brought together individuals from academia,    state and private institutions who discussed the draft Legislative Instrument.  Technical Director of Forestry at the Ministry, Joseph Osiakwan, underscored the Ministry's commitment to ensuring laws guiding their operations are well-positioned and implemented. Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Engages Stakeholders Wild Life Resources Management Act 2023,(Act 1115)

  The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, has held a consultative workshop on the Wildlife Resource Management Act 2023 (Act 1115) for stakeholders from five regions.  The workshop, held in Kumasi on Thursday, February 19, 2026, brought together traders, food vendors, technocrats, NGOs, lawyers, journalists, and other stakeholders to discuss a draft Legislative Instrument to operationalise the Wild Life    Act  Speaking to OTEC news, Technical Director of the Forestry, of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Mr. Joseph Osiakwan, said the Ministry has developed a legislative instrument to operationalize the Act.  He explained that the instrument will consolidate all wildlife laws, make sanctions more punitive, and incorporate emerging issues and global trends to provide a modern framework for the sector. KTI Gets Boost as PTA Hands Over Mechanized Borehole and Renovated Reservoir

  The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) in the Ashanti Region has handed over a mechanized borehole and renovated water reservoir to the school.  The new facilities are expected to improve the institution's water supply for both students and staff. Addressing the audience during the handing over ceremony on Thursday, February 19, 2026, PTA Chairperson Mr. Lowford Achemfour Boateng said the restored reservoir and newly drilled borehole will ensure a more reliable water supply.  He urged stakeholders to continue supporting the school for improved outcomes, adding that the PTA will keep providing help to enhance teaching and learning. Big Push in Peril: Sunyani Outer Ring Road Project Threatened by Reduced Scope of Work

  A major road project in the Bono Region, part of President John Dramani Mahama's Big Push Agenda, is under threat following an alleged decision by the Department of Urban Roads to reduce the scope of work.  The 34-kilometer Sunyani Outer Ring Road project, awarded to Kofi Job Constructions, is being constructed as a dual carriage road, but without median works. Checks by OTEC News indicate that over 20 major sinkholes have formed in the median, posing a danger to commuters and community members.  The contractor has only managed to close seven of them at its own cost, while the remaining 13 are still awaiting attention due to financial difficulties. Kwadaso MP Secures Landmark Education Projects For SHS in Constituency

  The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, has secured    major infrastructure projects at three senior high schools in the municipality.  The projects, aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes, include classroom blocks, dormitories, administration blocks, and other facilities at Methodist Technical Institute, Agric Nzema Senior High School, and Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School. The beneficiary schools are Methodist Technical Institute, Agric Nzema Senior High School, and Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School.  At the Methodist Technical Institute, the project includes the construction of a two-storey administration block, a two-storey classroom block, a two-storey dormitory, and two washroom facilities.  Agric Nzema Senior High School will benefit from a two-storey classroom block with water tanks and a reservoir, as well as a dining hall with a fully furnished kitchen.  Meanwhile, Yaa Asantewaa Senior High Sch...
