The New Patriotic Party has constituted its Standing and Sector Committees, naming Member of Parliament for Nsuta Kwaman Beposo Hon Adelaide Ntim as Co-Chair of the Gender & Social Protection Committee. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Executive Committee and National Council held on Thursday, May 7, 2026.   A renewed sense of hope and enthusiasm has swept through workers of Heath Goldfields Limited following the settlement of longstanding severance and salary-related disputes involving workers of the Bogoso-Prestea Mine. Former and current workers of the mine had, since late 2025, staged a series of protests over unpaid severance packages, salary arrears, and provident fund contributions owed to more than 400 workers who were laid off after the mine’s ownership transition in 2024. The uncertainty surrounding the payments had also raised concerns among sections of the public and workers over the ability of Heath Goldfields Limited to successfully revive operations at the mine. Energy Sector: IPPs Now Receiving Full Payments as ECG Revenue Improves-Minister

  The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, says Independent Power Producers IPPs are now receiving full payment for invoices submitted to the ministry, a sharp improvement from the 42 percent payment rate before the current administration took office. “This month when I checked, IPPs had received 100 percent of their invoices. The one to have received the least is 80 percent of invoices raised,”_ Dr. Jinapor said during a working tour of key electricity infrastructure projects in Kumasi on Friday. The legal action follows comments made by the Minister on April 28, 2026, during a public engagement in the Bono Region, in which he allegedly linked Mr. Annoh-Dompreh to cocoa smuggling operations involving Côte d’Ivoire. Kumasi South Hospital Honours Kofi Job, Wife for GH₵250,000 Lifesaving Support to Childhood Cancer Patients

  Renowned road contractor Mr. Kofi Gyebi Job and his wife, Dr. Esther Okyere Gyebi, have been honoured by the Kumasi South Hospital at Atonsu Agogo for donating over GH₵250,000 to save childhood cancer patients. The hospital presented a citation to the couple on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in recognition of their life-saving support.  The children, who suffered from kidney cancer and retinoblastoma, an eye cancer, were on the brink of death before the intervention. Through the Kofi Job Foundation, the philanthropic couple covered the full cost of treatment, enabling the children to receive top-notch medical care.
