ACEP and SolarTaxi Ghana Partner to Boost Green Skills for Women
The Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) and SolarTaxi Ghana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Green Energy Technology Capacity Development Program (GET-CADEP).
This initiative aims to equip young Ghanaian women with practical green skills for the future of work, starting next year.
The program addresses the growing need for green skills in cleaner, technology-driven energy systems, promoting competitiveness, inclusion, and sustainable development.
GET-CADEP bridges the gap between policy and industry, expanding access to green jobs and empowering women in Ghana's renewable energy sector.
A joint statement emphasized that a just and inclusive energy transition requires equipping the next generation with the right skills.
The partnership seeks to open doors to green jobs and shape the future of renewable energy in Ghana.
Policy Lead - Petroleum and Conventional Energy at ACEP Mr Kodzo Yaotse said this inniative will enhance access for women to get get skills and employment in the green energy sector
"We belive putting gender equity at the heart of labour development is keep in promoting the green energy sector".
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Solar Taxi Ghana Mr Gearge Appiah they were ready to train women in the green energy value chain
He expressed worry over how men have dominated the green energy sector adding that, will deliberate efforts women can get equll access and earn jobs in the sector
