NPP’s Odeneho Kwaku Appiah Queries Energy Minister Over ‘Rampant Dumsor’ in Ashanti Region

A stalwart of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Asanteman COKA, has raised concerns over what he describes as rampant power outages in the Ashanti Region.

In a post on his Facebook page on Friday, the former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman questioned the Minister for Energy about the persistent power cuts, popularly known as “dumsor.”

“Dumsor is rampant in Ashanti,” Chairman Odeneho wrote. “Can the Minister for Energy furnish us with a detailed timeline to enable effective planning? And did you sleep well?”

The NPP stalwart said the erratic power supply is disrupting businesses, households, and essential services across the region.

He argued that without a clear schedule from the Energy Ministry, residents and businesses cannot plan their daily activities, leading to losses and frustration.

His comments come amid growing complaints from parts of Kumasi and other districts in the Ashanti Region over frequent unannounced outages.

Traders, artisans, and small business owners have repeatedly cited power instability as a major setback to productivity.

Chairman Odeneho called on the Minister for Energy to urgently address the situation and provide a comprehensive load management timetable if the outages are due to technical or generation challenges.

“The people of Ashanti deserve better,” he added.
