President Mahama Wants To Collapse the Agric. Ministry- Ranking Member on agricultural
Dr. Isaac Yaw Opoku, MP for Offinso South and ranking member on agriculture, has accused President John Dramani Mahama of attempting to collapse Ghana's agricultural sector.
Speaking during a minority caucus engagement at Tromenso in the Wenchi constituency with farmers, Opoku revealed that the 2025 budget allocated only GH₵2.9 billion to the agricultural ministry, a sum he and the minority deemed insufficient.
Opoku expressed dismay that by September, the government had released only 16% of the already meager budget, crippling ministry operations.
He attributed the minister's frequent project launches without execution to the dire financial situation, citing the failed Nkoko nkitenkite project as an example.
Opoku also highlighted the government's unfulfilled promise to released the allocated GH₵200 million for maize buffer stock purchases, leaving farmers struggling.
